Supporting the Upper Arlington Police Division through public service
David Scott
Dave passed away peacefully at home on the morning of July 29, 2022. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, on January 28, 1939, to Martha (Ambrose) and Gene Scott. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, two children, four grandchildren, and his sister and her family.
He received his Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Ohio State University but spent most of his career in the field of Information Technology. Dave retired from the State of Ohio in the Department of Administrative Services and later started his own consulting firm. In between those two careers, he delivered flowers for friends who owned a floral shop and discovered (before GPS) that he was a bit geographically challenged.
He volunteered in a variety of organizations during his working career. He served as Treasurer for COCAM, a Central Ohio computing group; sang in Vaud-Villities and in his church choir. He was a Director for the Upper Arlington Civic Association, donated his time to the Friends of the Upper Arlington Library, and was a member of the UA Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association.
After retiring, Dave also participated in the P.E.R.I Chapter 94 in District 6, which is an organization dedicated to the interests of Retirees of the State of Ohio, found speakers for the Tuesday afternoon Current Events Group at the UA Senior Center, and served on the UA SAC Board. He was a volunteer at OhioHealth Hospital at the Larwell Physical Therapy facility and served on the Volunteer Board there.
Dave will be missed by his family, neighbors, and friends. His life was celebrated and his memorial service was held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Schoedinger in Upper Arlington.
